STDT Board Member's 40 step 'Fling for Logan'...back to headlines
01 Apr 2009
At the end of 2008 the Mitchelson family were devestated to discover that Gareth & Donna's little boy Logan was diagnosed with Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a heart breaking disease. It is a genetic progressive muscular wasting disease and almost exclusively affects young boys. Children begin to see their muscles waste away and families struggle to cope with the diagnosis and day to day management of this condition. Young men die early in late teens or are left wheelchair bound and unable to move unaided by the time they reach their early teens. Presently there is no cure for DMD - however, things are changing with genetic research currently underway in the UK. The Mitchelson family are appealing for help to raise funds for the specialist (and expensive) equipment that will be required for little Logan's future wellbeing. Gareth completed a mind-blowing 40 step fling on the 2nd of April 2009. For more information, to see Gareth's Fling or to sponsor Gareth please visit the 'Fling for Logan' website at www.flingforlogan.com
